Ropewind Farm, Shalbourne, Wiltshire

These new homes in the pretty village of Shalbourne were completed in 2012. This farmyard style development is a mix of four and five bedroom homes, and includes affordable housing. The site spans 1.2 hectares, and is within the Village Settlement Boundary.

The houses sit in both an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and also the Shalbourne Conservation Area. Because of this, our scheme was carefully considered. The farmyard concept fits well with the rural location, and we were careful to include local building materials, for example brick and flint.

A unique part of this project was the Landscape Plan. Because of the site’s location, we needed to develop a plan to enhance the immediate area, which includes new woodland and hedgerows.
