Our latest planning permissions from October 2021:

New Country House in Hampshire Village

Fowlers recently secured planning permission for a new country house in a Hampshire Village.

The site was near the centre of the village and close to several listed buildings, as well as being in the Conservation Area. The design and siting of the replacement dwelling needed careful consideration, as did the scale, form and mass. Fowlers worked hard to provide appropriate robust evidence and technical justification for the proposal to ensure the application gained Officer support, and , despite some local objection, the application was approved.

This is a great result for our clients, and a traditional country home should fit well into this village setting.

New House in Infill Plot in Wiltshire

Our planning team achieved permission for a new house in an infill plot in Chippenham.

The close is located an established residential environment in Chippenham, and the plot itself is a group of garages that formerly served local residents. However, with individual properties increasingly benefitting from their own off-street parking over time, the need for the garages declined to non-existent.

However, the plot retained some sensitivity locally as it contains a turning head which, despite being in private ownership, has been used by the public over time. Therefore, the application process involved much discussion and negotiation regarding the legality of use of the site for that purpose (as well as any other third party rights), as well as with the Council’s highways teams regarding provision of a turning head. In terms of design, we designed a dwelling which both met with the clients aspirations as well as respecting the scale of houses locally and neighbour amenities. We guided the application through all of this and are pleased to have achieved our clients goals.

New Garage and Pool at Listed Manor House in Hampshire

Following on from planning permissions and listed building consents for both the main house and the ancillary coach house on the site, Fowlers has now secured planning permission for the erection of a new garage building, swimming pool and boundary wall.

The site has a range of heritage, ecological and arboricultural considerations and our team had to work hard, with third party input, to demonstrate acceptability of the proposals in terms of these constraints. In particular, the garage is a traditional brick and flint building to complement the existing buildings on the site. The detail for the boundary wall was also appropriately articulated to match the historic form and alignment of the wall, the importance of this being emphasised by the fact that the wall also forms the boundary to the neighbouring listed St Mary Church.
