What is the Community Infrastructure Levy?
The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a mandatory levy charged on most new development and is used to pay for new infrastructure.
Each Local Authority has their own charging schedule.
You may be able to apply for discounts and exemptions, for example if:
- the property is your primary residence for at least 3 years after completion of the works
- if the proposed extensions are less than 100sqm or 1,000sqft net increase in floor space
